Kamala Harris is one of America’s worst potential VP candidates, in part due to her terrible stance on guns.
Specifically, Harris has advocated for a Draconian AR-15 buyback program should she rise to power.
But what does this mean, and how would it be implemented? Let’s break down this issue to see the details.
What the Buyback Program Focuses On
Harris originally unveiled her thoughts and plans for a gun buyback program when she was running for President.
However, she is now attached to Biden’s presidential ticket.
Her opinions on gun control have not changed, so we can feel safe assuming that her hypothetical buyback program will look the same now as it did earlier.
In a nutshell, the program would:
- Revoke any licenses of gun manufacturers or dealers that break the law
- Require people who sell more than 5 guns per year to run background checks for all gun sales
- Ban the importation of AR-15 and similar guns
- Require mandatory buyback for all AR-15 and similar guns currently in circulation
- All “sales” would be for market value
All of this is, naturally, a bit confusing and in direct opposition to what the Second Amendment lays out.
The attitudes of Biden and Harris both revolve around AR-15 and so-called “assault weapons”, however, so it’s clear that the buyback program won’t go after handguns and many other hunting weapons.
How the Buyback Program Would Operate
Ultimately, the big question that Americans have to ask is: how will this actually happen?
Of course, Harris doesn’t have any direct answers.
Although there have been some rumors circulating that she’d send the police to Americans’ doors to take AR-15s by force (which would be bad… for the police), this no longer seems to be in the cards.
Biden is the potential President, not Harris, and he hasn’t backed proposals or ideas like this that we know of.
Should the legislation pass, how will the buyback program likely operate?
Here are a few ideas:
- They could implement a heavy tax on anyone who doesn’t sell their AR-15s within a certain timeframe
- They could require AR-15s to be taken in to gun stores for new licensing, only to take them away once secure
There isn't a good way to enforce this, thankfully, which makes us think that it'll ultimately be left at the door.
However, there is the possibility that Harris or someone else will try to perform some kind of executive action and force the issue.
Until that happens, we will have to wait.
What Can You Do About It?
The only things we can – vote & speak up!
Ultimately, stuff like this is affected by more than just the President – it’s also affected by both houses of Congress.
Fortunately, the House of Representatives is up for re-election every two years, and the Senate every six.
You can also speak your mind without saying a word by wearing our Pro-Second Amendment Hats, Flags, & Shirts.
If you want to make sure that Harris and other liberals don’t have the power to destroy the Second Amendment, the most important thing to do is vote every chance you get.
Elect people who represent real American values and you’ll slowly see Washington change its tune.
That’s the way of democracy!
Thank you for reading, God Bless America, & God Bless the Second Amendment.
